Gospel of Luke Chapter 22:60-62
And immediately, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.
Reflection:
Peter was the rock upon whom Jesus built his Church. He gave him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. This same man denied that he knew his friend and master three times and did so when he needed him most.
We too deny Jesus in thought word and deed. But Jesus looks upon us, as he did Peter, with the same loving eyes that overwhelm.
