Reflection #6 – The Cloak and The Dice

Gospel of John Chapter 19: 23-24

When the soldiers had crucified Jesus they took his garments and made four parts, one for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was without seam, woven from top to bottom; so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast dice for it.”

Reflection:

St Martin of Tours gave his Capella (cloak) to a beggar in whom he saw the face of Jesus.

How do we respond to the beggar that we come across? The beggar seeking friendship, or kindness, or a smile, or acceptance. Beggars, like angels, come in many different guises.
